Halo is a great way to dive into developing for the semantic web. All you need is some knowledge of PHP. To get started, the following resources are helpful.

Mailing Lists

For SMW users:

To post a message to all list members, send an email to Semediawiki-user@lists.sourceforge.net. (subscribe, archive)

For SMW developers:

IRC Channel

Semantic MediaWiki maintains an IRC channel, #semantic-mediawiki, on FreeNode. This channel can be used for discussing all issues related to both Semantic MediaWiki itself and any of its spinoff extensions, like Halo.

You can get there through FreeNode's regular, Javascript-based and Java-based clients.

Accessing IRC

The usual way to access IRC is with an IRC client. Some popular clients include:

WebSVN Repository

Explore our SVN repository comfortably via your webbrowser. You can watch actual development with logs and compare revisions and stay up-to-date with commits to the repository via rssfeed. Browse the SVN repository or from daily build server

Daily builds

We've setup a build system which builds Halo and its extensions each night (from SVN head) and tests the software automatically. You can download the latest builds there.

Access the build server here: Public Build Server

Learn here how to contribute

We have installed doxygen to help developers quickly understand the structure of the Halo extension:

Alternatively, you may download a compressed version of the code documentation for offline browsing here:

Hi Milan,

thanks for your comments on HaloACL. I've already created the patches for MW 1.15.1 and they will be part of the next release. And of course, you are right that the text format in the database tables should be UTF-8. I fixed this as well. Thanks!

HI, I´ve tested HaloACL with MW 1.15.1 and I can say there is a lot of issues. Anyway your extension looks realy great and would be nice to work on compatibility. Consider change charset for varchar in HaloACL tables creating script - ./extensions/HaloACL/storage/HACL_StorageSQL.php - VARCHAR(255) character set utf8 collate utf8_bin not null.

Thanks for your hardwork. I´m looking forward the next release.

I apologize your issues, currently SMW+ and Halo Extension supports only MW 1.13. But within the scope of the latest MW release 1.15, we're starting a testing phase for compatibility.
