About SMW+ User Forum

The SMW+ User Forum is the new community around Semantic MediaWiki and the Halo Extension. It offers a lot of information administrators as well as users of Semantic MediaWiki can benefit from.

Registration and use of the SMW+ User Forum is completely free for you and all your wiki users. Simply register an account and you are part of a fast-growing and vital community. Together with the introduction of the new community we would like to present a special offer to you:

About Support Program

We at ontoprise offer the first 20 Wiki-Administrators who want to apply, entirely free support for installing and setting up the Halo Extension on your wiki. Of course the Halo Extension is also free.
Our Support Program includes for you:

  • free support for migrating from older versions of SMW to the latest version
  • free support for installing the Halo Extension

Installation support covers all support requests, which are concerned with installing SMW and the Halo Extension. These are:

  • free support concerning preparations for the installation
  • free support concerning the course of the installation
  • free support for problems that occur during installation
  • free Bug fixing for installation-related bugs

The first 20 wiki-communities which want to join our support programm get free support within the scope of 3 PDs (1 PD has 8 hours). If your community won't need 3 PDs for installation support, in this case you can credit your remaining time for analysis and recommendations regarding your ontology. An ontoprise ontology engineer will have a look at this ontology and perform a basic analysis, then you get recommendations on how to improve the ontology.

If your wiki did not run SMW in advance, the ontology engineer will analyze the wiki’s contents and the content’s structure. Based on this analysis, recommendations for the initial ontology setup will be derived and handed out to the administrator.

In neither of the both cases mentioned above does the ontology engineer or any ontoprise related person apply actual changes to a wiki. The ontology analysis and recommendations will only be captured in a document, which will then be handed out to your community. The actual modeling tasks however will have to be accomplished by the communities themselves. The size and depth of the ontology analysis and the recommendations will depend on the free efforts a community has left within the support program.

Conditions of Participation

You must have installed the following software:

  • at least MediaWiki version 1.12 OR
  • at least Semantic MediaWiki version 1.0 OR no SMW at all

Older versions are not supported.

Easy to use trouble ticket system

Participating communities will receive an account to the ticket system of ontoprise. If a community needs any support, a new ticket has to be created. Ontoprise will then provide support for the problem mentioned in the ticket and calculate the efforts needed to resolve the issue. When a ticket is closed, the effort will be documented in this ticket such that the communities can keep track of the effort and of their free support efforts that remain.
