Who can participate in the contest?

Anybody can participate in the Ontoprise ISWC 2008 contest except persons who are employed by Ontoprise.

What is needed to participate in the contest?

You don't need to register. Simply send us the answers to the three questions given below.

Who will win the contest?

The grand prize will go to the first person to send us an email containing the correct answers to all three questions. (Before Nov 11 2008 6:00 p.m. CEST). This person will win the iPod Nano.

Second, third and fourth place prizes will be awarded in the order of when we receive your correct answers. (The second person to send us all 3 correct answers receives the second place prize and so on.) Only four prizes will be given. The sooner we get your answers the more likely you will be a winner!

All submissions must be sent before Nov 11 2008 6:00 p.m. CEST.

What is the first place prize?

The first place prize is an iPod nano!

What are the second, third and fourth place prizes?

The second, third and fourth place prizes are an Amazon.com voucher for each winner.

Is software needed to solve the three questions?

Yes, you need access to the following software/installations:

1. Ontoprise's public ISWC 2008 Wiki which is accessible here: [1]
2. Ontoprise's standard software OntoStudio(tm); find a free 3 month trial version here: [2]
3. A sample ontology for OntoStudio which can be downloaded here: Image:AutomotiveOntology.zip

What are the three questions to solve?

Question #1

The first question is about basic querying with Semantic MediaWiki. To solve it, access our public ISWC Wiki [3] and build a query which yields the list of presentations which are presented by the five persons whose names are ranked smallest (alphabetically).

The correct answer to this question is a table with two columns and five rows - please copy and paste your table in the email to us.

Question #2

The second question is about advanced querying with Semantic MediaWiki. Find in our public ISWC Wiki all persons who have the string 'Stefan' in their name and display their affiliation, the events they have a presentation and their papers in one single table. Hints:

• Use our add-on to MS Excel and connect it to the public ISWC Wiki: Querying Semantic Data from Public ISWC Wiki
• Use the following prefixes for your SPARQL-query:

PREFIX rdf: <http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#> 
PREFIX prop: <http://iswcwiki.ontoprise.com/property#> 
PREFIX cat: <http://iswcwiki.ontoprise.com/category#>

The correct answer to this question is a table with 4 columns named: Author, Affiliation, Document, Event. Please copy and paste the first 10 rows of your table in the email to us.

Question #3

The third question is about building rules in OntoStudio. To solve this task you need:

1. Ontoprise's standard software OntoStudio(tm); find a free 3 month trial version here: [6]
2. A sample ontology for OntoStudio which can be downloaded here: Image:AutomotiveOntology.zip
3. Launch OntoStudio and load the above ontology - ready!

The question: calculate the revenue of AUDI per country (please note: the revenue figures are fictitious!).

Hints:

1. Formulate rule(s) which associates a manufacturers total revenue to countries, car prizes and sales numbers per country.
2. Formulate a rule to convert currencies into EURO.

The correct answer to this question is a table with two columns: Country, Revenue in EURO (ordered by revenue). Simply copy and paste the table into your e-mail to us (first 5 five rows are sufficient). If you like to you can also include a screenshot with your rules.
